Lumify Eye Drops
Lumify Eye Drops (original name: Redness Reliever Eye Drops) are eye drops from the Bausch + Lomb brand in the OTC category, that is, a medicinal product available without a prescription. The active substance is brimonidine tartrate 0.025%, at the same concentration in each of the three sizes: 2.5 ml, 5 ml and 7.5 ml (7.5 ml is the Large Size). The manufacturer states that the preparation contains no bleaching agents or dyes.
Key ingredients
Brimonidine tartrate 0.025%
The only active substance. It is a redness reliever. The remaining ingredients are: benzalkonium chloride (preservative), boric acid, calcium chloride dihydrate, glycerin, potassium chloride, sodium tetraborate decahydrate, sodium chloride and water for injection. Hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide is used to adjust the pH.
How to use
Dosage as given on the Drug Facts label. Adults and children aged 5 years and over: instil 1 drop into the eye every 6–8 hours, no more than 4 times a day. Children under 5 years of age: use requires consultation with a doctor.
- Remove contact lenses before instilling the drops and reinsert them no sooner than 10 minutes afterwards.
- Leave an interval of at least 5 minutes between the use of this preparation and another ophthalmic medicine.
- The tip of the bottle must not touch the eye or any other surface, as this risks contaminating the solution.
- Screw the cap back on after each use; it is opened by pressing down and turning at the same time.
- Storage: 15–25 °C, out of direct sunlight.
- Use the multi-dose bottle within 3 months of opening. An unopened pack remains stable for 2 years.
Warnings
For external use only, for the eyes.
- Do not use if the solution has changed colour or become cloudy.
- Do not use if the yellow band marked “Protective Seal” is torn or damaged.
- Stop use and consult a doctor in the event of eye pain, changes in vision, persistent redness or irritation, and also if symptoms worsen or persist for more than 3 days.
- During pregnancy and while breastfeeding, seek advice from a healthcare professional before use.
- Keep out of the reach of children. If swallowed, seek medical help immediately or contact a poison control centre.
- Do not exceed 4 instillations per day.
