LUMIFY Redness Reliever Eye Drops

LUMIFY Redness Reliever Eye Drops are eye drops from Bausch + Lomb that give the whites of the eyes a clear, bright look again. One drop reduces redness within a minute, and the effect lasts up to eight hours. The formula is sterile, free of bleach and dyes, and the concentration of the active ingredient — brimonidine tartrate 0.025% — is the lowest used in eye drops and the same in all three sizes.

The Drug Facts label assigns this substance a single purpose: redness reliever. The 0.025% concentration is the lowest used in brimonidine eye drops, and the manufacturer links it to a lower risk of so-called rebound redness when used as directed.

Formula free of bleach and dyes

The manufacturer states that the product contains no bleach and no dyes. The remaining ingredients are: Benzalkonium Chloride (preservative), Boric Acid, Calcium Chloride Dihydrate, Glycerin, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Borate Decahydrate, Sodium Chloride and Water for Injection. Hydrochloric Acid and/or Sodium Hydroxide may be used to adjust pH.

How it works and benefits

Redness in the white of the eye comes from dilated, superficial blood vessels. The product constricts them, so the eye looks clear again without masking and without pigment. The labelled use is single and narrow: minor irritations — from screen work to dust and wind.

How to use

Dosage from the Drug Facts label. Adults and children 5 years of age and over: instill 1 drop in the affected eye every 6–8 hours. Do not use more than 4 times daily. In children under 5 years of age use requires medical advice.

• Remove contact lenses before instillation and re-insert no sooner than 10 minutes afterwards.
• Allow at least 5 minutes between this product and any other ophthalmic product.
• The tip of the bottle must not touch the eye or any other surface — this risks contaminating the solution.
• Replace the cap after each use. It opens by pushing down while turning.
• Storage: 15–25 °C, away from direct sunlight.
• Use the multi-dose bottle within 3 months of opening. An unopened pack keeps for 2 years.

Who it is for

For adults and children 5 years of age and over whose eye redness comes from minor irritations — screen work, dry air, smoke, dust, wind or short sleep. For contact lens wearers, observing the interval described in the directions.

The product is not intended to relieve redness of any cause other than minor irritation. Redness with pain, impaired vision, or lasting more than 3 days calls for medical advice, not another dose.

Warnings

For external use only, in the eyes.

• Do not use if the solution changes colour or becomes cloudy.
• Do not use if the yellow neckband printed “Protective Seal” is torn or broken.
• Stop use and ask a doctor in case of eye pain, changes in vision, continued redness or irritation, or if the condition worsens or persists for more than 3 days.
• If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
• Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
• Do not use more than 4 times daily.
