Lumify Preservative Free Eye Drops

Lumify Preservative Free (original name: Redness Reliever Eye Drops) is the preservative-free version of the Bausch + Lomb drops, in the OTC category (a medicinal product available without a prescription), supplied in 20 single-use ampoules of 0.4 ml each (4 sachets of 5 ampoules). Each ampoule is sterile, opened just before use and discarded immediately afterwards, so the formula does not need a preservative.

Key ingredients

Brimonidine tartrate 0.025%

The only active substance, at the same concentration as in the multi-dose bottle version. It is a redness reliever. The difference in composition compared with the bottle version is the absence of benzalkonium chloride. The remaining ingredients are: boric acid, calcium chloride dihydrate, glycerin, potassium chloride, sodium borate decahydrate, sodium chloride and water for injections; the pH is adjusted with hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide.

How to use

Dosage as per the Drug Facts label. Adults and children aged 5 years and over: twist off the wing of the ampoule, instil 1 drop into the eye, then discard the ampoule immediately. Do not exceed 4 instillations per day. Children under 5 years of age: use requires consultation with a doctor.

• The ampoule is not reused, even if some solution remains in it.
• Remove contact lenses before instillation and reinsert them no sooner than 10 minutes afterwards.
• Leave at least 5 minutes between applying this product and any other eye medicine.
• The tip of the ampoule must not touch the eye or any other surface.
• Store unused ampoules in the child-resistant carton.
• Storage: 15–25 °C, protect from light.

Warnings

For external use only, for the eyes.

• Do not use if the solution has changed colour or become cloudy.
• Do not use if the single-use ampoule is damaged.
• Do not use if the sachet is torn or open.
• Stop use and consult a doctor in case of eye pain, changes in vision, persistent redness or irritation, or if the symptoms worsen or persist for more than 3 days.
• During pregnancy and breastfeeding, seek advice from a healthcare professional before use.
• Keep out of the reach of children. If swallowed, seek medical help immediately or contact a poison control centre.
• Do not exceed 4 instillations per day.
