LUMIFY Preservative Free Redness Reliever Eye Drops

LUMIFY Preservative Free is the Bausch + Lomb drops without a preservative, packed in single-use vials. One drop reduces redness in the whites of the eyes within a minute, and the effect lasts up to eight hours — the same as the bottled version. The difference is in the formula and the pack: each vial is sterile, opened just before use and discarded straight afterwards, so the formula needs no preservative at all.

Key ingredients

Brimonidine tartrate 0.025%

The active ingredient is the same, at the same concentration as in the multi-dose bottle. The Drug Facts label assigns it a single purpose: redness reliever. The 0.025% concentration is the lowest used in brimonidine eye drops.

Preservative-free formula

This is the one real formula difference from the bottled version: there is no benzalkonium chloride here. The remaining ingredients are boric acid, calcium chloride dihydrate, glycerin, potassium chloride, sodium borate decahydrate, sodium chloride and water for injection; hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide is used to adjust pH. The manufacturer aims this version at people who tolerate preservatives in eye products poorly.

How it works and benefits

Redness in the white of the eye comes from dilated, superficial blood vessels. The product constricts them, so the eye looks clear again without masking and without pigment. The labelled use is single and narrow: minor irritations — from screen work to dust and wind.

How to use

Dosage from the Drug Facts label. Adults and children 5 years of age and over: twist the tab off the vial, instill 1 drop in the affected eye, then discard the vial immediately. Do not use more than 4 times daily. In children under 5 years of age use requires medical advice.

• A vial is never re-used, even if solution is left in it.
• Remove contact lenses before instillation and re-insert no sooner than 10 minutes afterwards.
• Allow at least 5 minutes between this product and any other ophthalmic product.
• The tip of the vial must not touch the eye or any other surface.
• Store unused vials in the carton — it is child-resistant.
• Storage: 15–25 °C, protect from light.

Who it is for

For adults and children 5 years of age and over whose eye redness comes from minor irritations — screen work, dry air, smoke, dust, wind or short sleep. Above all for those who react badly to preservatives in eye drops, and for contact lens wearers, observing the interval described in the directions.

The product is not intended to relieve redness of any cause other than minor irritation. Redness with pain, impaired vision, or lasting more than 3 days calls for medical advice, not another dose.

Warnings

For external use only, in the eyes.

• Do not use if the solution changes colour or becomes cloudy.
• Do not use if the single-use vial is not intact.
• Do not use if the pouch is torn or open.
• Stop use and ask a doctor in case of eye pain, changes in vision, continued redness or irritation, or if the condition worsens or persists for more than 3 days.
• If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
• Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
• Do not use more than 4 times daily.
